What are your sitting fees?
My sitting fees vary by the size of the group and by time. Some come with complimentary photos and others include a photo credit to use toward photo purchases later on.
I offer many other packages and will happily customize something that might suit your needs better. It never hurts to ask in other words!!
Please request a full sheet of prices and packages!
A phone call is always best and would be happy to speak with you.
How do photo credits work?
I have found that many families get busy with "life" once their session is over and the job of choosing and ordering photos gets pushed off sometimes for a year! By adding in a print credit into a sitting fee, families choose photos more quickly. Photo credits are for printed photographs only. They do not apply to reprint permission images burned to a CD or emailed.
Do you edit all your images?
Yes, all photos are color corrected and cropped before posting online. I still keep the unedited files so that client requests can be accommodates should you want other changes. Some editing I do free of charge, for example, I will take background people out of beach shots when I can. Other retouching takes a good amount of time and there are charges listed on the pricing sheet for those retouch requests. You are always welcome to ask me to look at individual photos with you to determine retouching options.
What should I wear?
I typically don't tell my families what to wear. If your party is large, I recommend being coordinated as much as you can and to avoid shirts with logos. Smaller families clothing choice does not matter quite so much. Remember, you want the viewer to focus on faces and not on clothing! For beach shoots, khaki and white or pastel colors are always flattering. Blue's and denim look nice too. I do sit people down and sand shows up strongly on denim. For the teens, remember not to wear anything too short since that mini skirt will get even shorter when you sit down! colors to avoid: bright yellow and bright red are not always flattering.
What is the best time to take beach pictures?
Like the song says.... Sunrise, Sunset! Sunrise and Sunset are the nicest times to be on the beach taking pictures. The light is softer and there is less chance of glare and squinting. The sand, water and sun can create a very unfriendly atmosphere when you are trying to take a picture on the beach. Most people squint or tear up when asked to look in the direction of the sun and that shows up in your photos. Harsh shadows are also problems when shooting on the beach at other times of the day. Although I do not refuse late morning or afternoon sessions, these are the things to think about before requesting one. I do try and get you off the beach for some shaded shots as well, but those are not ON the beach!
Can I take pictures with my camera too?
This is a tough question to answer. I will not say no to this request, however, you need to understand what might happen if you do. It has been my experience that families who try and shoot "behind the photographer" often end up with photos where people in the picture are looking in every direction. My job gets harder trying to get all eyes on me if people are being distracted. If you want to take photos and risk that happening that is your choice. My recommendation would be to leave your cameras home since you hired someone to take them for you or to plan a few minutes together after I go to take your shots!
